Suggester says, "The Gas Station by *MarcWeiz makes you feel part of the experience as the man hauls the boat to replenish it's fuel, in a manner that makes it known he's been doing it for years.

The Gas Station

Description

2009. Koh Phi Phi, Thailand. Taken with Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.

A floating gas station on the coast of the Phi Phi island. Barrels of gas were everywhere and the two workmen both were smoking in chain - a detail which didn't make me feel any safer.

Edit: just noticed that the camera data on all my point-and-shoot pics is inventing itself... like this one with a 5mm, 1/500s, taken at 2008... More like 24mm, 1/125 and taken at 2009. :)

I very much like how this looks like a pencil drawing. The contrast is lovely- it doesn't have the dullness a lot of black and white photography possesses.

The photo looks natural like he wasn't aware you took it (was he?) and I love that. I also really love the perspective of the photo- the fact that the camera is looking UP at him.

My only issue is the over exposed sunlight in the background. It blurs the outlines of the man making him less defined as I feel he should be and and it also makes the hills in the background look...fake, to me. I know nothing about photography though so I'm not sure if that was avoidable (and you might disagree with me anyway.)

Lovely shot. Well deserved DD!
